You've heard of facials from Winyah Bay Dermatology's Georgetown office, but you may be wondering, "what are the specific benefits of this treatment?" Well, read on to find out!

What is a facial?

Essentially, a facial from our Georgetown office is one of the most relaxing, effective, and safe ways to rejuvenate dull skin. Done on a facialsregular basis, a medical-grade facial delves deeply into the top layer of the skin, reducing inflammation and extracting dirt, excess oil, and dead skin cells. After treatment, your face will look and feel refreshed, and yes, people will say you look younger, too!

How it works

At Winyah Bay Dermatology, our medical esthetician performs dozens of facials every month of the year. When you come to the office for this wonderful treatment, be sure you have cleansed your face at home and have removed your make-up.

Once you have arrived, your esthetician will apply a special cleanser to remove any residues that your at-home care may miss. A towel or special cloth will also be laid down so as to protect your hair and clothes.

Next comes a gentle steam cleaning. This process opens the pores and allows for the extraction of oils, blackheads, and other blemishes. Exfoliants may also be applied to loosen dead skin layers.

Finally, a soothing massage relaxes tight muscles and allows a toning facial mask and moisturizer to do their work.

Follow-up care

In conjunction with any medical dermatology needs that you may have, your esthetician will also likely recommend a schedule of facials just right for your skin type, your age, and your personal preferences. You will see quite a difference in your skin tone, brightness, and texture after just one facial—just remember to maintain proper in-office and at-home skin care in order to keep that healthy glow!
